About SpotValue

Short — about 55 words

SpotValue is a research dossier on every ASX-listed company: the facts a value investor needs, extracted from company filings, attributed and dated, organised around the ten questions one asks before buying a business. Its Promise Tracker records what management said and marks it against what was later delivered. No scores, no recommendations. We show; you decide.

Medium — about 140 words

SpotValue is a fact-only research instrument for self-directed ASX investors. It reads company filings (annual and half-year reports, Appendix 4D and 4E, quarterlies, results presentations, director notices) and assembles them into an interactive dossier per company, organised around the ten questions a value investor asks before buying a business. Every fact is attributed to its source filing and dated. The signature feature is the Promise Tracker: a ledger of every measurable commitment management has made, marked hit, missed, partial, or reframed when the outcome is reported, under a published, versioned rubric. Coverage begins deep on the ASX 200 and expands to the full market of about 1,800 tickers within twelve months. SpotValue expresses no opinions, publishes no ratings, and sets no price targets. We show; you decide.

Long — about 350 words

SpotValue is an automated research dossier on every ASX-listed company, built for the self-directed investor who wants to read businesses the way Buffett and Graham taught, but cannot read every annual report. The pipeline ingests each company’s public filings and extracts them, one fiscal year at a time, against a fixed schema. The result is one dossier per company: ten sections, in the same order for every company, each answering one of the ten questions a value investor asks before buying a business. What the business does, what one is asked to pay per dollar of ownership, whether it is getting better or worse, how management returns capital, what the assets are doing, who is running it, whether they do what they say, what has happened and what is coming, what the moat is, and what could change the outcome.

The signature feature is the Promise Tracker. Every measurable commitment management makes (production and financial guidance, capex envelopes, capital returns, milestones) enters a ledger with its statement, date, and source filing. When the outcome is disclosed, the verdict is an arithmetic comparison under a published, versioned rubric: hit, missed, partial, or reframed. Silence after a due date is recorded as a miss. Hit rates are computed by fixed, disclosed formulas, and every verdict can be audited by any reader against the public Standard.

SpotValue publishes no ratings, scores, price targets, or recommendations of any kind. It presents factual information from company disclosures and market data, and leaves the decision with the reader. The stance is summarised in the brand promise: we show, you decide. Coverage begins deep on the ASX 200 with five years of history and expands on a public roadmap to the full market of roughly 1,800 listed companies, including the small- and micro-caps where professional research is thinnest.

Identity

The wordmark and the Asterism

The wordmark is typographic: Spot in IBM Plex Serif, Value in the same face, italicised, in Vermilion. The mark is the Asterism — a six-point asterisk, the printer’s footnote mark, set in Vermilion. Please do not place it in a container, recolour it, or animate it.

Palette

Seven colours, used sparingly

The palette is published in both editions: Paper, the launch edition, and Night, the dark edition for reading after hours. Both meet WCAG AA.
